- ACI: targeted changes to TSCA will deliver tangible benefits to member manufacturers
- ACI submits letter to Subcommittee highlighting cleaning products industry’s TSCA concerns
The U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) held a hearing on chemical regulation this week, shedding more light on potential solutions for challenges to the U.S. chemical supply chain.
The American Cleaning Institute (ACI), the trade association for the U.S. cleaning product supply chain, recommends that the committee consider targeted changes to TSCA to ensure the EPA has the clarity necessary to review PMN submissions efficiently.
“ACI appreciates the committee’s continued attention to the regulatory challenges of the TSCA program,” said Blake Nanney, ACI Director of Government Affairs. “A TSCA program that is working, consistent, and grounded in sound science will foster innovation, and that benefits both American consumers and businesses.”
Senate EPW leadership is working on a draft proposal that could address implementation challenges the Environmental Protection Agency has faced since the 2016 amendment to the Toxic Substances Control Act statute. This comes as the House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee is set to release its own draft legislation on TSCA.
ACI commends legislators for keeping this issue top of mind and maintaining attention on the importance of the TSCA chemical management program. ACI will continue to proactively collaborate with the committee and EPA staff to implement a chemical management process that improves our industry’s supply chains, supports American innovation, and benefits U.S. consumers.
