School Nurses Comment on Reducing Germs and Improving School Health

08/15/2017
2017 NASN Conference

ACI met with many of the 1500 attendees at the National Association of School Nurses’ 49th Annual Conference. Nurses were asked to provide comments about their concerns were about student health and why teaching handwashing is important. Two of the nurses shared that germ reduction is important to school nurses "because it affects student attendance" and "healthy kids are great learners!"

ACI shared information about Healthy Schools, Healthy People, inviting the school nurses to create a handwashing project with their students and to apply for national recognition.

The free resources ACI distributed were popular with attendees. More than 500 picked up copies of Hooray for Handwashing storybooks and CDs with coloring sheets, songs and song sheets to use in their schools.
