Laundry KEEP UNIFORMS SPOTLESS! "Back to school" means vacation season is over. In many cases, it also signifies "back to uniforms" time — such as school uniforms, fall sports gear, job attire, and more! Keeping these frequent-use garments fresh, clean and stain-free is key for helping them to last the entire season or school year. It all starts with reading the care label for specific instructions (e.g., seeing whether to lay flat to dry or if it is safe to go in the dryer). ACI offers handy tips for staying clean — whatever type of uniform you’re washing.
Handwashing MAKE HANDWASHING A HABIT! Fall routines are settling in — at school, work, and home. An important routine that can help you stay healthy is the practicing of good handwashing habits. Handwashing with soap is a "do-it-yourself vaccine" that prevents infections and saves lives. Register for ACI’s FREE Handwashing Webinar — speakers include experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Global Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing (founder of Global Handwashing Day).
Surfaces A CLEAN CHILD CARE FACILITY IS VITAL for the health, safety and well-being of the children and staff. ACI’s PRINTABLE tip sheet for cleaning child care facilities includes how to choose and properly use cleaning and disinfecting products in various locations within the child care setting. Also download ACI’s "Daily Practices to Protect Children in Your Care" poster (available in English and Spanish) to learn the differences between cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing — and to help ensure the health and safety of children in your care.
Dishes DON’T GET "STUCK" WITH DIRTY POTS. Amidst crazy schedules, new traditions can make family time special. For a fun experience, put the kids in charge at dinner time — but be sure to wrap it up with a "teachable moment" when clean-up time arrives. Show them how to soak pots and pans properly, tackling any tough burned on messes before bedtime for easiest cleanup. ACI’s tips for washing up after the cooking and eating is done can build lifelong habits!
Awards ACI ♥ NEAFCS. Since 1969, the ACI has partnered with the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS) to provide targeted educational materials supporting the important work of extension professionals in their communities. Our Clean and Healthy Families & Communities award underscores the critical connection between clean, safe homes and good health. Learn more about the ACI/NEAFCS collaboration — and watch for this year’s award recipient in the next issue of Cleaning Matters!
