ACI supports the use of methods that reduce or eliminate the need for animal testing for determining the safety evaluation of cleaning products and their ingredients. For many years there has been increasing social concern to reduce the numbers of animals used in safety testing, and currently there is growing global pressure as well. Concurrently, there are ongoing technical advances being made in the development and regulatory use of animal alternative test methods and methods that reduce or refine the use of animals. ACI’s focus has been to emphasize the development of assessment approaches related to cleaning products that reduced or eliminate the need for animal testing. ACI also collaborates on technical and legislative initiatives with other consumer product industry organizations.
