2010 Cleaning Product Safety Survey Findings
The following questions were asked of 1,008 American adults (500 men and 508 women). The independent consumer research study was completed February 25-28, 2010, on behalf of The Soap and Detergent Association (SDA) by Echo Research. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percent.
How safe do you believe the cleaning products you buy are when used as directed?
Results:
- Very safe (24%)
- Safe (64%)
- Not very safe (8%)
- Not safe at all (2%)
How often do you read a cleaning product ingredient label?
Results:
- Never (20%)
- At least once (80%)
- Always (8%)
- Most of the time (10%)
- Sometimes (23%)
- Just the first time used (39%)
Insight:
- Twice as many women (10%) vs. men (5%) always read cleaning product ingredient labels.
Have you ever visited the website of a company and/or a cleaning product to seek more information about a product?
Results:
Insight:
- Men and women reported the same incidence of visiting a website for information.
