ACI Distinguished Service Award

Martin WolfOrlando, Florida – January 29, 2015 – Martin Wolf, a recognized leader in sustainability and environmental chemistry in the cleaning products industry, is the 2015 recipient of the American Cleaning Institute (ACI) Elva Walker Spillane Distinguished Service Award.

The honor was presented during ACI’s 2015 Annual Meeting & Industry Convention at the Grande Lakes Orlando (Florida).

Mr. Wolf currently serves as the Director of Sustainability & Authenticity at Seventh Generation Inc. He has over 40 years of experience in industrial and environmental chemistry.

At Seventh Generation, Mr. Wolf has developed frameworks for environmental product design, helped educate his coworkers, customers, and consumers about the environmental impacts of consumer products and the industries that produce them, helped develop standards for voluntary ingredient disclosure, and brought change to the cleaning products industry through more sustainable product designs.

A Sustainability Leader at ACI

For the past decade, Mr. Wolf has been a leader and participant in ACI’s sustainability and consumer outreach programs. He served as the Vice Chair and Chair of the Sustainability Committee (2010-2015), and as the Vice Chair and Chair of the Strategic Advisory Committee (2007-2011) and remains active on that Committee. He also is a major contributor to ACI’s Research, Technology and Regulation Committee and Consumer Affairs & Outreach Committee.

"I am deeply honored to receive ACI’s 2015 Elva Walker Spillane Distinguished Service Award," said Wolf. "However, as with any award, as much as it is a recognition of any service I may have offered, the award is a reflection of the values and vision of this organization and its embrace of sustainability as part of its Mission, Principles and Strategy."

Bringing Intellect, Determination, Diplomacy to the Table

"Martin Wolf has brought intellect, determination, diplomacy, grace and a marvelous sense of humor to the table during his many years of activity at ACI," said Ernie Rosenberg, ACI President & CEO. "He has been and remains an outstanding contributor to ACI’s sustainability initiatives, which have blossomed during the past ten years, thanks in part to Martin’s support, advice and immeasurable sweat equity.

"Martin Wolf is a testament to the fact that any company, no matter how large or small, can have a major impact within ACI and the industry at-large by being ‘at the table’ as we tackle the major issues affecting the cleaning product supply chain."

Mr. Wolf was appointed a Fellow of the Aspen Institute, Environmental Forum in 2006, and received an EPA Region 1 Environmental Merit Award in 2011.

In 2013, Mr. Wolf was appointed by the National Academy of Science to the Committee on Design and Evaluation of Safer Chemical Substitutions.
