Alticor’s Gregory Grochski Honored with SDA Distinguished Service Award

WASHINGTON, D.C., February 3, 2003 – Gregory T. Grochoski, a longtime executive with Alticor Inc. and its subsidiary companies, is the 2003 recipient of The Soap and Detergent Association (SDA) Elva Walker Spillane Distinguished Service Award.

Grochoski, a former SDA Board Chairman who retired from Alticor in 2002 after 40 years with the company, was honored during SDA’s 77th Annual Meeting and Industry Convention held in Boca Raton, Florida. The award is named in honor of the late Elva D. Walker Spillane, the former National Purity LLC chief executive who served on SDA’s Board for 20 years.

“Greg Grochoski provided SDA and its members with outstanding dedication and leadership for 35 years, including 14 years of service on the Board of Directors,” said Ernie Rosenberg, SDA President & CEO. “In 1999, Greg led the study group which recommended that SDA – the home of the cleaning products industry – remain an independent voice for the makers of cleaning products, their suppliers and the producers of oleochemicals. That group’s report led to the relocation and reorganization of SDA in 2000.”

The Elva Walker Spillane Distinguished Service Award, established in 2002, recognizes extensive or exceptional service to SDA, which promoted the growth and interests of the Association and the industries it represents; and the exercise of outstanding leadership within the Association.

“Greg’s good humor and unwavering support for SDA helped sustain the Association’s operations as it went through many changes during the last few years,” added Rosenberg. “He was always available to provide counsel and encouragement to the staff and imparted energy to the board.”

“The cleaning products industry has had an immense positive impact on the health of mankind,” said Grochoski. “I am proud and grateful to have had the opportunity to serve with so many outstanding people in this industry. The SDA and its members can be proud of the great work they have done and continue to do.”

Grochoski chaired the SDA Board of Directors from 1995-97.
