Surfaces: Cleaning Toothpaste Off Mirrors and Counters

toothpaste girl messYour teeth are clean. But is your bathroom?

It’s wonderful that you’ve convinced your children to brush their teeth. But unfortunately, good oral hygiene often comes with a mess – toothpaste globs and schmears on the counter and mirror. Not to worry. With a little bit of elbow grease and the right product, your bathroom can look as good as new. (Until the next brushing, anyway.)

  • Try to wipe up stains immediately, as it is easier to remove fresh toothpaste.
  • Wipe up toothpaste with a cloth or paper towel and some water.
  • If water doesn’t work, apply a glass and surface bathroom-cleaning product. (Don’t ever mix products as this could lead to dangerous fumes.)
  • Allow the cleaning solution to sit for a few minutes to dissolve the toothpaste. Apply cleaning solution to a cloth and hold it to the mirror.
  • Wipe the product and stain away, and clean as normal.

If this does not work, apply a non-abrasive scouring powder or gel and rub with a cotton cloth. For incredibly tough stains, you may need to get a plastic scraper, but work carefully so that you don’t scratch surfaces.
