Ask Nancy: Holiday Safety

Nancy Bock 2012

Nancy Bock, Senior Vice President of Meetings & Education at the American Cleaning Institute®

Q. What type of safety issues should I keep in mind during the holidays?

A. Winter school breaks and holidays mean kids are home from school and extra family and friends visiting. The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) urges parents and caregivers to take extra care to store cleaning products safely in the home. Follow these guidelines each and every day including during the holiday season:

  • Keep cleaning products out of reach and out of sight of young children and pets.
  • Prevent potential accidents in the home by closing cleaning products containers if interrupted during use.
  • Make it a habit to always close cleaning product containers after use.
  • Keep all cleaning products used in the home in their original container with the original product label intact.
