Partners & Friends
Clean the World and ACI, teaming up for
2017 One Project
Since 1926, ACI has cooperated with schools, health agencies, industry and other organizations to get the job done. Over the years, our work has been possible because of our ability to build and sustain partnerships. Today, relationship building continues to be the backbone of ACI.
ACI’s partnership with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention began in 2002 with a signed Memorandum of Understanding to create the Healthy Schools, Healthy People, It’s a SNAP
(School Network for Absenteeism Prevention) program. This program seeks to improve hand hygiene habits to help prevent the spread of infectious disease and reduce related absenteeism. Over the last 15 years, 45 schools have earned national recognition and cash awards totaling over $65,000 plus thousands more in free hand cleaning supplies for their schools!
For many years, Extension professionals have used consumer education materials produced by the American Cleaning Institute to support grassroots programs. In 2003, ACI established the "Clean Homes...Safe and Healthy Families" Program Award of Excellence. Now known as the "Clean and Healthy Families & Communities Award", this award recognizes National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS) members for innovative educational programs and outreach efforts that help families and individuals to understand the vital link between clean homes and good health.
Clean the World is the largest global recycler of hotel soaps and bottled amenities. In 2013, Member companies attending the American Cleaning Institute® Convention helped this non-profit group assemble more than 2,200 hygiene kits that were donated to families in need in Seminole County, Florida. Since then, building hygiene kits has become an annual event. In 2016, 90,090 kits were built for ACI’s 90th Anniversary. In 2017, a new high was reached with 100,000 kits built.
American Cleaning Institute is a proud supporter of the Cleaning For A Reason® Foundation and their work to sustain cleanliness for women undergoing treatment for cancer. A clean environment is especially important to women with cancer. That is why ACI has partnered up with this group to help educate the public about the vital link between health and hygiene. In 2010, ACI hosted the first annual charity golf tournament to benefit Cleaning for a Reason at ACI’s Annual Convention. Since then, the charity events have grown to include a Duck Race and Fun Run. In 2017, $50,050 was raised through generous attendee support.
We also collaborate with organizations in the U.S. including the Caregiver Action Network, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, National Poisoning Prevention Council, American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and Safe Kids Worldwide.
We have relationships with many organizations in other countries, including ABIPLA, ACCORD Australasia, AISE, JSDA, CCSPA, CANIPEC and IHPCIA through INCPA, CEFIC and its Sector Groups (e.g., CESIO and APAG).
