2014 ACI Convention Recap

Once again, ACI’s Annual Convention was successful and this year was no exception… we had the largest attendance, at Annual Convention, in the last 12 years! Nearly 900 were in attendance, from 167 different companies; attendees are from 25 different countries -- all participating in Convention events from meetings, speaker sessions and receptions to charity events! Take a look back at the ACI Convention Schedule to review key events. Members can also access presentation slides.

Among several speaker sessions, such as the annual Global Industry Update, other invited speakers included Mark Duvall (Principal, Beveridge & Diamond, P.C.), Herbert Estreicher (Keller and Heckman) Cheryl Falvey (Crowell & Moring) who all presented on new California regulations. ACI also hosted its annual Executive Leadership Panel on Thursday, showcasing industry experts sharing business insights. Panelists included ACI Members Joy Atkinson (Firmenich Incorporated), Kevin Gallagher (Croda, Inc.) and Michael Heinz (BASF SE). The Friday Public Policy Forum featured political correspondent and columnist Major Garrett. Also, at special ACI events such as the Women’s Networking Forum, Hall of Fame LPGA, Annika Sörenstam spoke about "shattering the ceiling," and at an ACI Special Session, U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-LA) spoke about key policies affecting the cleaning products industry. Longtime Amway executive Bob Hamilton received the 2014 Elva Walker Spillane Distinguished Service Award at the ACI Annual Business Meeting. To read more about it, click here.

For ACI’s Charity, the Clean the World ONE Project event, attendees collaborated to build hygiene kits for disadvantaged people. Member companies participated in teams; and Lonza Inc. won for having built the highest number of hygiene kits.

The ACI Convention hosted three engaging events:

Cleaning for a Reason Logo

The ACI Charity Duck Race is an event for all attendees that helps benefit Cleaning for a Reason, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides free residential cleaning services to women undergoing treatment for cancer. Special thanks to Shell, the official sponsor of the 2014 Charity Duck Race. Due to the popularity of this year’s new themes and contests for the Charity Duck Race – many participated in the rain to watch their ducks and corporate ducks swim down the Lazy River. Also, new this year -- decorating your organization’s corporate duck or decorating your individual duck, became a hit with participants. Many got to show their creative side!

5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament also supports Cleaning for a Reason. Awards were given for the shortest and longest drive, closest to the pin, and First Place Team. ACI helped Cleaning For a Reason raise $28,845.44, the most ever-raised!

Clean the World

During our Clean the World ONE Project event at Grande Lakes, attendees collaborated to build hygiene kits for disadvantaged people. Kits include bars of recycled soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a washcloth and an inspirational message. They will be distributed to organizations serving the homeless in Central Florida.
